Francesca Gabbiani and Eddie Ruscha’s collaborative works on paper channel shared visions of ecological hope and healing to reflect upon the restorative cycles of the natural world. “Our luminous, collaborative works create a visual dialogue where two vastly different artistic languages (and physical artmaking processes) harmoniously converge”, reflect Gabbiani and Ruscha. The result sees Gabbiani’s carefully constructed representations of the resilient flora of their native state counterposed, like an actor illuminated on a stage, against Ruscha’s airbrushed abstractions. The effect is simple yet profound, as the plants appear to emanate a powerful energy which centrifugally oscillates like sound patterns or a musical rhythm away from the centre of the composition.
